LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A recent study shows the number of children living in poverty rose 5.6% in Arkansas since 2021.
The study by the Ann E. Casey Foundation showed that Arkansas had a rate of 8.9% of children in poverty from 2019 to 2021 and that rose to 14.5% for the 2022 to 2024 period.

The study used figures from the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual Supplemental Poverty Measure, which the bureau states is a more accurate reflection of circumstances than the official poverty measure’s income threshold.
