Clayton County correctional officer arrested on contraband accusations

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Clayton County correctional officer was arrested for allegedly trying to bring contraband into the jail.

Maurice Sanders was taken into custody on Wednesday and is accused of violating the terms of his oath as a correctional officer after the sheriff’s office said they got a tip.

Court documents state Sanders was texting an inmate’s girlfriend to coordinate Sanders bringing the inmate prohibited items. According to the records, a plastic bag wrapped in black electrical tape with tobacco inside was found in his county car.
