Lancaster man accused of leaving his dogs for dead while traveling abroad waves preliminary hearing

A Lancaster Township man waived his preliminary hearing in a case of severe animal abuse.

Authorities say that Osvaldo Coello-Mendoza allegedly left his dogs to fend for themselves as he traveled abroad to Cuba.

According to a post on Lancaster County’s Crimewatch, Coello-Mendoza left the dogs at the 1000 block of Sterling Place without shelter. A neighbor reportedly called the police after she witnessed a dead dog on the property. When police and SPCA responded to the scene, they found a total of 10 dogs, one of which was confirmed dead…
