SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A drainage improvement project is officially complete in Santa Rosa County.

The $4 million endeavor, funded through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, sought to “reduce flooding and improve stormwater management” in the Ranchettes subdivision, according to a Santa Rosa County news release.

Improvements include newly constructed swales, driveway pipes, and inlet structures, which will direct runoff and lessen the impact of potential flooding. Reducing this impact will also lower the chance of road damage.

Previous storms in the area damaged 44 homes in the Ranchettes, Northridge, and Whisper Bay subdivisions.
