(ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)- Administrators at Western Virginia Regional Jail report the death of a 51-year-old inmate.
According to the press release, the inmate, identified as Robert Wayne Sheppard, Jr., was found unresponsive in his cell on Wednesday, October 22. Correctional and medical staff performed CPR until first responders from Roanoke FireEMS arrived and took over. Sheppard was pronounced dead at 11:47 a.m.
The Roanoke County Police Department is handling the investigation. An autopsy will be preformed, however, the preliminary findings indicate Sheppard died of natural causes, the release stated…
