ROCHESTER, N.Y (WROC) — Wednesday night, a 2.2 magnitude earthquake was detected 12 miles north of Pulteneyville in Lake Ontario.
Specifically, the tectonic movement was 7.9 km below the Earth, and the epicenter was located at approximately 43.396°N 77.175°W at 7:19 p.m. according to USGS.
The total number of people who could have felt it is unknown at this time, but it is likely low due to the earthquake’s small magnitude. Rochester is over 27 miles away from the epicenter.
