Teen in custody after fights at East High; staff member injured trying to intervene

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 16-year-old boy from Rochester was taken into custody after police responded to multiple fights at East High School, during which a staff member was injured.

Rochester Police responded to the school at 3:30 p.m. for the report of the fights at the school on East Main Street, and they heard that a teacher had been hurt. Police and school security quickly dispersed the fights, according to the RPD, and the 16-year-old was taken into custody without incident.

Police investigated and learned that the fights rose out of a dispute, and that a staff member tried to separate the people involved and suffered an injury to his hand, according to RPD…
