The streets of Sacramento, like many others across the nation, may just have become a tad safer following a concerted crackdown by the FBI. In a recently detailed report by the Sacramento Field Office, the conclusion of their “Summer Heat” operation marks the culmination of a robust, multi-month effort aiming to stamp out violent crime.
As per details from their press release, the initiative, which stretched from June 24 to September 20, saw the involvement of all FBI field offices. It was a time when the bureau surged resources in coordination with local and state enforcement to tackle gang-related violence, drug and weapons trafficking, and crimes against children. Their endeavors yielded over 430 judicial outcomes, including arrests, indictments, convictions, and sentencings in the 34 counties that the Sacramento office covers.
Within the confines of its operation, the Sacramento FBI Field Office managed to recover 102 weapons and were responsible for 41 narcotic seizures, as well as the location and recovery of 27 children. These numbers add to the national tally of “Summer Heat” achievements. In an overall score, the initiative led to 8,629 arrests—overwhelmingly targeting those involved in violent crimes and gang activity.
