“NO GIRL WITHOUT PERIOD” CAMPAIGN FIGHTS STIGMA AND SHORTAGES

October 14th marked National Period Action Day, which was a global call for advocacy, equality, and awareness about period poverty. Locally, Bellin Health’s “No Girl Without Period” campaign is leading the charge for change; reminding the community that one in four girls nationwide lack access to basic feminine hygiene products. That lack of access, organizers say, can lead to shame, anxiety, infections, and missed school days. Cheryl Reisner, a Bellin Oconto lab assistant and chairperson for the campaign, says the effort started after local schools admitted there was a desperate need for products.
