JACKSON, Miss. – A Meridian man, identified by federal authorities as a ranking member of the Gangster Disciples street gang, was sentenced on Friday, October 17, 2025, to 24.3 years in federal prison.
Afrika Roshawn Seals, of Meridian, was sentenced by a federal judge in Jackson for operating a large-scale drug trafficking organization in the Meridian area. The sentence is the culmination of a lengthy, multi-agency investigation that began in 2022.
The joint investigation was led by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) and involved coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Marshals Service, and the East Mississippi Narcotics Task Force.
According to court documents and statements, the investigation into Seals’s operation included:
- Initial Purchases: Undercover agents purchased approximately one pound of crack cocaine directly from Seals during the investigation.
- September 2023 Seizure: The execution of multiple search warrants resulted in the seizure of three kilograms of cocaine, six ounces of fentanyl, five firearms, three stolen vehicles, and $84,411 in U.S. currency.
- Post-Arrest Seizure: Following Seals’s indictment and subsequent arrest in July 2024, agents developed probable cause for two additional searches. Those searches uncovered an additional 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 1,500 counterfeit M30 (fentanyl) pills, two more firearms, $88,237 in cash, and more crack cocaine.
In total, the investigation removed 4.5 kilograms (nearly 10 pounds) of cocaine, a significant quantity of fentanyl in both powder and pill form, seven firearms, and $172,648 in drug proceeds from the community…
