Dreary side of fall arives Friday with soaking rains for some

We kicked off this morning with the coldest start of the season, as temperatures dipped into the upper 30s across many locations. While it brought us close to our first frost, it wasn’t quite enough to get there. I’m sure there’s a joke somewhere about horseshoes and hand grenades.

Temperatures managed to rebound nicely through the day, climbing back into the 70s. Tonight will be cold again, but not quite as chilly as last night. Lows are expected to drop into the lower 40s under a light northerly breeze.

Thursday looks to be a near repeat of today. Expect mostly clear skies and highs similar to what we saw this afternoon, perhaps a degree or two cooler. It’s worth noting that clouds will begin to increase late in the evening as we set the stage for our next chance of rain.

Friday is shaping up to be a soggy and dreary day. Our next weather system will arrive just in time to close out the week, bringing rounds of on-and-off showers that will linger into the weekend.

Thankfully, severe weather looks unlikely at this point, but rainfall totals could still be rather impressive. The heaviest rain is expected to fall across the southwest corner of Missouri and the northwest corner of Arkansas, where 1–2 inches of rain will be possible.

Rain amounts will taper off farther east of Highway 65, but up to half an inch of rainfall can still be expected.

The wet weather and overcast skies will greatly limit temperatures to finish out the week. Highs will be held near the 60-degree mark for both Saturday and Sunday…
