Farmacy employee speaks out after closure leaves workers without paychecks

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A former hot spot for brunch in Nob Hill has now become the center of controversy after closing up shop with no notice, leaving employees short a paycheck. After nearly a decade in business, The Farmacy in Nob Hill shut its doors last week for good, with the owners, Jacob Elliot and Mary Hammack, filing for bankruptcy.

“We all knew that San Diego was kinda like the new baby restaurant, you could see that Albuquerque was already starting to go downhill in terms of like the level of care that the ownership was giving it,” said Karah Lizotte, a now former Farmacy server.

While news of another business closing isn’t a shock for some, how it all happened isn’t sitting well with employees. “We were more not if it’s going to shut down, but when it’s going to shut down, I think that the way it was handled was disappointing, overwhelmingly disappointing,” said Lizotte…
