Olympic Hopefuls: Alaska-tied skiers named to U.S. Cross Country Ski Team

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Ahead of a big winter on the trails, seven athletes who are from or train in Alaska were named to the 2025-26 Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team.

Anchorage’s Gus Schumacher, former UAA skier JC Schoonmaker and APU standout Rosie Brennan highlight the ‘A Team’, alongside four other out-of-state skiers.

The 2025-26 COOP FIS Cross Country World Cup will begin late November in Ruka, Finland, with races leading up to the Winter Olympic Games Feb. 6-22 held in Val di Fiemme, Italy. Skiers will look to put on performances that will land them a spot on Team USA’s Cross Country Team…
