HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is investigating a $356 million distribution rate increase requested by PPL Electric.
The utility, based in Allentown, announced in September that it would be seeking the increase, which would add about $13 a month to the bill of a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) a month, or about 7 percent.
The PUC voted 5-0 on Thursday to investigate the request, a process that will include public input hearings to gather testimony from customers and other stakeholders. The dates, times and locations for those hearings will be announced at a later date…
