Black Mountain Police Department Introduces Children’s Book to Help Local Kids Learn About Stranger Danger

The Black Mountain Police Department in North Carolina has launched a new program to connect with local children. The program features a children’s book created by Officer Raquel Smith, who illustrated it, and School Resource Officer Adriana Stewart, who wrote the story. The book uses real Black Mountain Police Department officers as characters and focuses on teaching children about ‘Stranger Danger.’

This book is the first in a planned series. The goal is to help children understand the role of police officers and encourage trust. The program will begin with a live reading at Black Mountain Primary School on November 13, 2025.
