Elijah Q. Rogers, 27, of Buffalo, has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of his infant son, Kanai James Cureton. The incident happened on May 23, 2025. Police and paramedics responded to a 911 call at a home on Tonawanda Street. They found the 3-month-old unresponsive. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prosecutors allege that Rogers acted with reckless disregard for human life, causing his son’s death. He was arraigned before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek.
