In a collaborative rescue effort involving the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the ASPCA, more than 50 dogs, including puppies, were taken into custody from a property in Berkeley County, South Carolina last week.
The dogs had been living in inhumane conditions and most were malnourished, dehydrated and suffering from other mistreatments. Four of the dogs, when found, needed immediate emergency surgery.
When officials entered the property, the dogs were found to be housed in dilapidated wooden kennels saturated with urine and heavily soiled with piles of feces. Some of the dogs had scarring which veterinarians said are consistent with dogfighting…
