VIDEO: Couple’s morning walk along Charleston’s Battery turns into raccoon rescue mission

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A couple enjoying a morning stroll along The Battery found themselves at the center of a raccoon rescue.

While enjoying the sunrise, Elizabeth Heffron and Will DeLeo spotted something swimming in the water. Initially, they were unsure about the creature – thinking it was a cat or otter – but the couple soon realized it was a raccoon struggling in the water.

“Neither of us wanted to continue our walk without trying to help it out of the water, although we had no idea for the first few moments how we would do that,” Heffron told News 2…
