Employee accused of bringing gun into Mecklenburg County Courthouse

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Mecklenburg County court employee was arrested after she allegedly brought a gun into the courthouse earlier this week.

An affidavit alleged that the 56-year-old woman tried passing through the courthouse security entrance on Tuesday, Oct. 21. When she was being screened, the gun was found in the bottom of a bag.

According to the affidavit, the woman claimed she had been in an unsafe place and forgot to take the gun out of her lunch bag before coming into the courthouse. A check of the gun found it was not stolen and the affidavit said the woman was cooperative the whole time…
