Man arrested after apparently drunken intrusion on neighbor

A man from the northern part of the county has been charged with several felonies after he allegedly tried to force his way into a neighbor’s home after crashing his pickup truck into a tree.

Travis Lee Carson was ultimately taken into custody last Sunday after these late-night antics occurred along the 600 block of Bob Rainey Trail near the unincorporated community of Union Ridge.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, the 47-year-old white male of 540 Bob Rainey Trail showed up at his neighbor’s residence less than an hour before midnight on Saturday in an apparent state of intoxication. He reportedly started to bang on the doors of the home before he took up a position in the backyard, where deputies subsequently found him, claiming to have been on the run from somebody who was trying to shoot him.

The deputies who handled this call noticed that Carson had apparently crashed his pickup truck into a tree. They went on to find a double-barrel shotgun on the front seat of the vehicle. In the meantime, a search of the suspect’s person yielded three .38-caliber rounds and some baggies of what looked like cocaine…
