Woman struck by small plane during crash landing at Long Beach park

A pedestrian at a Long Beach park was struck by a small aircraft that crashed during an attempted emergency landing on Tuesday, officials confirmed to KTLA.

According to fire officials, the emergency landing attempt occurred at around 4 p.m. on a soccer field at Heartwell Park in the 6300 block of Carson Street.

According to Sky5 reporter Gil Leyvas, the pilot of the possibly experimental aircraft may have been trying to make it to the Long Beach Airport, which is approximately a mile and a half northeast of where the plane went down.

“When units arrived, they found one small aircraft on its belly with broken landing gear,” fire officials said. “The plane’s fuselage was intact.”…
