HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – Nearly 10,000 residents in Southeast Virginia are currently without power, according to Dominion Energy.
The power outages resides in mainly Portsmouth and Chesapeake, with those two cities accounting for over 9,500 outages.
The outage is due to an equipment failure, according to Dominion spokeswoman Cherise Newsome. She said approximately 9,000 customers lost power, but automated technology helped the operations crew re-route the flow of electricity and restore power to about 4,000 customers within moments.
Newsome adds the remaining customers will be restored later this evening…
