Pinellas County Rolls Out $800M Hurricane Recovery Program for Residents Hit by 2024 Storms

Starting today, storm victims can apply for aid through an $800 million recovery fund in Pinellas County. The money will fix homes, assist with buying new ones, and cover costs from Hurricanes Helene and Milton’s destruction.

The aid targets those still picking up the pieces after last year’s storms struck. Money comes straight from Washington, with HUD backing several aid options. Short-term fixes and long-term rebuilding both fall under the plan’s scope.

“The fact that we’ve got this done really in government terms — this is lightning speed to be able to do this a year after the event. We’re going to be taking applications and getting money in people’s hands by Christmas,” said County Commission Chair Brian Scott, according to FOX 13 News…
