Lucas County leadership rally against loss of SNAP benefits

TOLEDO – The Commissioners’ hearing room at 1 Government Center was packed Monday morning, Oct. 20, as local Democratic leadership from all stations of government came to speak about the elimination of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on Nov. 1.

Lucas County Commissioner Lisa Sobecki led the discussion.

“On October 10, the USDA put out a memo to all 50 states that come November 1, 42 million individuals across the United States will not be receiving their food stamps due to the government shutdown,” she said…
