FRIENDSWOOD — A man is behind bars after police say he tried to flee officers following a theft at the Friendswood H-E-B Wednesday evening.
According to Friendswood Police, officers responded around 5:45 p.m. to a report of a theft in progress at the H-E-B located at 701 W. Parkwood Avenue. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect walking through the parking lot with the stolen merchandise.
Police say the man, identified as 41-year-old Chris Freely, got into his vehicle and sped away from the store. Officers attempted to stop him, but Freely continued to flee, leading to a short pursuit before stopping the vehicle…
