‘Our democracy is being threatened,’ demonstrators gather for protests

At least 1,500 people attended a No Kings protest at Denton’s Downtown Square on Oct. 18, which held speeches, tabling from activist groups, marches from demonstrators clockwise around the square and chanting.

The protest was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with protestors staying through on and off rain, and was one of more than 2,700 protests held across the nation by the No Kings group. The movement started in June when over 2,000 No Kings demonstrations were held in the country, amassing around 5 million protestors nationwide and being one of the largest single protest days. This second round broke the previous No Kings record, with a total of around 7 million demonstrators.

According to the No Kings website, this second wave of protests continues the message of rejecting President Donald Trump’s administration and “his authoritarian power grabs.”…
