An Okoboji-based group owned by a restaurateur who was well known on the Sioux Falls dining scene has opened a restaurant in Luverne, Minnesota.
Revel Kitchen & Cocktails opened earlier this month on Main Street in the town that’s a half-hour drive from Sioux Falls.
It’s the creation of Lakeside Hospitality, which is owned by Rick Thompson, co-founder of the former Sioux Falls restaurants Spezia, Bracco World Cafe & Island Bar and Starz through TNT Hospitality Group. Lakeside Hospitality operates Bracco and Waterfront Grille at Arnold’s Park, Iowa.
The Revel menu features smashburgers, sandwiches, salads, hand-breaded chicken and walleye, fish tacos, flatbread pizzas and steak. Revel has a full liquor license, and along with handcrafted cocktails, the bar specializes in blended ice cream cocktails, including a classic Grasshopper and a Raspberry Tuxedo creation.
“We wanted to bring the flavors and hospitality our guests love from Bracco and Waterfront Grille to a new community,” said Rich Rislov, director of operations for Lakeside Hospitality and general manager of the new restaurant. “When the building’s owners approached us about its future, we fell in love not only with the space but with the entire Luverne community. It felt like the perfect place to grow our family of restaurants.”
The building, which dates back to when Main Street was a dirt road and horses were a means of transportation, most recently was a restaurant that closed last summer, Rislov said. Lakeside Hospitality began remodeling it in May…
