Suspect from fatal NW Charlotte shooting also accused of kidnapping, firing at officers killed by police: CMPD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people are dead following two shootings connected to a kidnapping in Charlotte Thursday afternoon, including one killed by police officers.

According to Medic officials, the initial shootings occurred around 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of North Hoskins Road and Brookshire in northwest Charlotte. Both victims were transported to the hospital, with one succumbing to his injuries and the other in critical condition, police say.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings later described how officers located the suspect from the shooting, and began a chase. He was accused of forcing his way into a nearby home, kidnaping a victim and leaving in the stolen vehicle with her.

As this occured, the suspect was allegedly firing shots at the officers’ vehicles, and eventually crashed near the busy intersection of Freedom Drive and Morehead Street, just west of uptown 3 1/2 miles away…
