ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A 79-year-old local woman is being charged hundreds of dollars by E-ZPass because a New York State Police car has the exact same license plate as her car.
Lauren McGuire points to her aunt’s car, which has had the license plate 1M24 for 50 years. 1M plates were special plates for people who worked for Monroe County. However, her aunt is now getting charged every time a State Police car goes into the E-ZPass congestion zone in midtown Manhattan.
“Oh my God, yes. We’re up to $500 now,” McGuire said.
