Staten Island elementary school unveils honor for teacher who died unexpectedly in January

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Allan Kivlehan School, PS 6, held a library unveiling, naming and ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to honor Lisa Marie Vecchiarelli, a beloved first grade teacher who died unexpectedly earlier this year.

Vecchiarelli taught at the Tottenville school since its opening more than two decades ago until the time of her death on Jan. 11.

A dedicated New York City public school teacher for more than 30 years, Vecchiarelli was described by PS 6 PTA President Binay Scanni as “the most amazing human being who brought light everywhere she went.”…
