Wrigley Field shootout earns 57 months in federal prison for repeat gun offender

A federal judge on Thursday sentenced a 38-year-old man to nearly five years in prison for firing a gun during a shootout across from Wrigley Field last year.

Raphael Hammond, of Chicago, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Lindsay Jenkins after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors said Hammond was on federal supervised release for a prior gun conviction when he pulled out a Ruger pistol and fired toward a fleeing SUV in the early morning hours of May 5, 2024…
