Nonprofit launches to raise money for Madison men’s shelter

MADISON, Wis. — A new nonprofit organization – Shelter Friends of Dane County – has been created with the sole purpose of helping support a new homeless shelter being built in Madison.

It comes as the need for services is growing. According to the Homeless Services Consortium of Dane County, on a single night in Jan. 2025, there were 790 people experiencing homelessness in the Madison area. That’s a 7% increase from 2024.

The new men’s shelter being constructed on Bartillon Drive will have enough room for 250 beds, and will provide access to meals, showers and storage lockers…
