City removes picnic tables, benches from parks in effort to deter ‘anti-social behavior’

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) – Two parks in Wisconsin now sit empty after city officials removed picnic tables and benches Tuesday morning.

According to Janesville officials, the removal of all of the tables and benches from Firehouse and Volunteer parks comes in an effort to prevent “anti-social behavior” that has been seen in the downtown areas.

In a Facebook post, the city’s police department said business owners and others have reported incidents over the last six months, including aggressive panhandling, harassment, vandalism, property damage and public intoxication…
