The City of Boise has announced new measures to improve safety for pedestrians and riders on the Boise Greenbelt and in downtown areas. Starting October 24, 2025, the city and Lime have lowered speed limits for all Lime micromobility devices. Riders can now travel up to 12 mph on the Greenbelt at all times. In downtown Boise, the speed limit is 10 mph between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m. The previous maximum speed was 15 mph. City officials and Lime made this change to address safety concerns and resident feedback.
The city is also working to educate users of privately owned e-scooters and e-bikes, which can reach speeds over 30 mph. The Boise Police Department has increased bike patrols and educational outreach on the Greenbelt. The goal is to promote responsible riding and compliance with safety rules. The city encourages all riders to use safe speeds and practices to protect pedestrians and other riders.
