Syracuse Murder Suspect Arrested in Arkansas

The suspect in a Syracuse murder case, Rephayah Oselmo, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Fayetteville, Arkansas, earlier this week. Oselmo, 18, is accused of being involved in the shooting death of 26-year-old Jakari Townsend on September 16 on Bellevue Avenue in Syracuse, New York. According to the Syracuse Police Department, Oselmo was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The arrest took place on Tuesday (October 21) when authorities located Oselmo at an apartment complex. He attempted to escape by jumping from a second-story window but was quickly captured. Oselmo is currently held in Arkansas, awaiting extradition back to Syracuse.

Oselmo is the third person charged in connection with Townsend’s murder. The other suspects include a 17-year-old from Cicero and David Herndon, 33, from Syracuse. Herndon is accused of driving the car that transported the shooters to Townsend, while the teen and Oselmo allegedly fired at least 11 shots, injuring another man during the incident, as reported by CNY Central…
