Federal judge extends ban on National Guard deployment in Chicago

CHICAGO — A federal judge on Wednesday extended a temporary restraining order preventing the deployment of National Guard troops in Chicago, following an agreement between the state of Illinois and the federal government.

U.S. District Court Judge April Perry said the extension would allow both parties time to submit comprehensive legal briefs and motions as the state’s lawsuit against the federal deployment proceeds.
