It seems the iconic tradition of fans flinging tortillas across Jones AT&T Stadium may finally meet its match. While it’s long been as common as dust storms or white trucks in Lubbock, the university appears to be taking serious steps to curb the floury free-for-all.

The practice of tossing tortillas before kickoff dates back to the 1990s — about three decades of airborne carbs that have become part of the local culture. But after several penalties and a hefty fine, Texas Tech is now stuck in a sticky (or starchy) situation.
