ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. – A man was arrested overnight Friday after crashing a vehicle into a house during a police pursuit in East St. Louis.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, the pursuit began around 2:40 a.m. in Venice, Ill. The pursuit continued on southbound Illinois Route 3 in Brooklyn, Ill., before ending in East St. Louis.
At some point during the pursuit, police say the fleeing suspect traveled over a set of railroad tracks near Locust Avenue, causing him to lose control and crash into a house.

When the pursuit ended, officers say they recovered a loaded firearm and took the man in custody. Additionally, police say an preliminary investigation showed that the man had several indications that he may have been under the influence at the time of the crash…
