Bossier City Boardwalk Primed for a “Big Boom,” Mayor Says

The Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City is getting a fresh push from City Hall, with visible cleanup, safety upgrades, and new recreation on the way.

Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler recently told KEEL News that the city is investing to welcome retailers and families back. “We’re getting it already cleaned up and fixed up to where they can start moving in,” Chandler said. “There’s a big boom coming.”

Bossier Boardwalk Streets, Garage, and Safety Upgrades Underway

Chandler confirmed the city owns the parking garage and streets through the Boardwalk, and crews have been power-washing, restriping, and repainting. A safer, flat concrete walkway is replacing uneven stone in the breezeway by the theater to cut down on twisted ankles.

“We’re going to paint that whole wall and put up a seal,” he said, noting a high-visibility Bossier Police sign for the existing substation. “I don’t want to waste the taxpayers’ money at all, but we want to invest in something that’s going to be great for Bossier City.”

New Pickleball Destination in the Pipeline

A pickleball complex with a restaurant is targeted to open in the coming months. Chandler credited local partners for momentum and said the project will carry a Drew Brees signature brand.

“Chris Phillips has really got a good deal going on that,” he said. While he could not share tenant names yet, Chandler emphasized timing: “When it happens, you’re gonna say, ‘Oh my goodness.’”

Signals of Renewed Retail Energy

The mayor said prospective tenants are touring now, and the city wants them to see action, not promises. “We don’t want to tell them ‘we’re going to clean this up’… we’re doing it already so when they come, they know we want them there.”
