Albuquerque man charged with kidnapping woman

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is in custody following an investigation into a kidnapping. According to a criminal complaint, Albuquerque police responded to a call on Wednesday from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and had been told that she had to pay money or would be killed. Police tracked her phone to a home on Old Coors Road near Sunset Gardens.

Man sentenced for threatening Cibola County judge with axe

Officers made contact with the woman along with a group of other people there as well. The woman told police that she had been told to pay $18,000 to be set free. Police said she and the others in the home had made plans to cross the U.S. border. She said she was told that she was not allowed to leave without paying the money. They also said her family could pay the money. She also said she was being charged $300 each day that her family did not pay the money.

According to police, the kidnappers said they would dismember her and put her in acid.

Police charged Francisco Galvez with kidnapping. Galvez told police he was at the home to visit friends. APD said Galvez had a sheet of paper on him showing financial records. The paper had names on it with “apparent destinations” and a note saying whether the fee had been paid or not…
