Locals of an Alabama town are demanding accountability after a Wendy’s manager refused a teen to leave the restaurant after the teen was accused of attempting to pay with a counterfeit $50 bill.
The Hueytown Police Department took to its official social media on Wednesday, Oct. 22, detailing the incident that occurred on Oct. 16 around 4:00 p.m. According to the announcement, officials were called to the Wendy’s in Hueytown, Ala. where they spoke to both the teen, who was accompanied by a group of 11 friends who were also allegedly not allowed to leave, and the manager on duty.
“She said, ‘Y’all not leaving til I get my money,’ and then one of my friends tried to leave, she had pushed him, and then she called the police on us,” the teen told the police, as reported by WBRC News. “She had locked the doors, we couldn’t go nowhere, so we just sat down. Once she pushed him, we just sat down.”
“After speaking to both parties, the juveniles were released pending investigation,” the notice stated. The following day, the parents of the accused teen demanded further investigation into their child’s “false imprisonment,” as it was later determined that the $50 with was authentic…
