EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — As the government shutdown continues, money that helps families put food on the table is at risk.
Nearly 143,000 Rhode Islanders receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. According Rhode Island Community Food Bank CEO Melissa Cherney, those benefits will not be loaded onto people’s food assistance cards on Nov. 1.
