Reese Elementary Student Chosen as Lodi’s Mayor for a Day, Highlighting Local Youth Engagement

Georgia Merritt, a fifth grader at Erma B. Reese Elementary School, has been selected as Lodi’s ‘Mayor for a Day.’ She won a citywide contest open to all K-12 students. The City of Lodi organized the competition. Students were asked to share their ideas about what they would do as mayor. Mayor Cameron Bregman and the Lodi Youth Commission reviewed the entries.

Georgia’s essay focused on making parks safer, adding more water fountains, and improving the community’s appearance. She also suggested organizing a food drive and highlighted the value of community involvement. As part of her prize, Georgia will spend a day with Mayor Bregman.
