One try and you die: DPS warns students as fentanyl deaths fall across Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCISD kicked off its annual Red Ribbon Week, a time when students pledge to live drug-free. But this year, DPS troopers are celebrating some real progress in the fight against fentanyl, with deaths in Texas dropping sharply.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says fentanyl poisoning deaths are down 42.8% statewide compared to last year, a number experts say shows education and prevention are working.
