Report shows sudden gas surge before explosion in North County

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – An over 40-page police report is shedding new light on what led up to the explosion that destroyed five homes and damaged several others in North County in August.

The explosion happened just after 9 a.m. on Aug. 25 in the 13800 block of Evan Aire Drive. Five people were injured and over 20 homes were damaged in the explosion.

The report from the St. Louis County Police Department says their investigators did not find any gas leaks on either the main line or any other branches, but instead, there was a sudden surge in gas going inside the home hours before that explosion…
