ST. LOUIS – The man accused of killing a St. Louis police officer in a drunk driving crash on Interstate 70 last year will appear in court on Monday morning to presumably plead guilty.
Ramon A. Chavez-Rodriguez is charged with DWI – death of a law enforcement office and driving without a valid license for the death of Officer David Lee.
Lee was responding to a car crash on Interstate 70 near Grand Boulevard on Sept. 22, 2024, when Chavez-Rodriguez allegedly lost control of his vehicle and struck him. Lee, an 18-year veteran of SLMPD, died from injuries suffered in the crash. He was 44.

Court documents revealed Chavez-Rodriguez’s blood alcohol content was 0.10 two hours after the crash, which is above Missouri’s legal limit. Records also indicated Chavez-Rodriguez “does not have legal status in the United States” and was driving without a valid license at the time of the crash…
