Night Off The Streets holds volunteer trainings for winter warming center

CARSON CITY, Nev. — With November just around the corner, Night Off The Streets of Carson City (NOTS) is preparing to offer shelter services during the cooler months.

“Night Off The Streets began in 2017 after four people died from cold exposure on the streets of Carson City,” Center Manager for NOTS Jodi Miller said. “The goal when we first started was to keep people from dying from cold exposure. Now we have evolved into more of a homeless outreach organization.”

Two trainings this week are teaching volunteers a number of skills they may need while working at the shelter, including Narcan distribution, de-escalation, handling emergencies and more…
