Eric Penland Jr., a quadriplegic patient whose nearly four-year stay at Mission Hospital became the subject of a legal battle with the hospital, died earlier this month, according to a family obituary.

The obituary, published by Ray Funeral and Cremation Service, said Penland died Oct. 11. It did not list a cause of death…
