Tiler Peck, prima ballerina, talks about family, her legion of little-girl fans and what’s ahead

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Twenty-one years ago a little girl left Bakersfield with big dreams. Now, Tiler Peck, age 36, is the prima ballerina at the New York City Ballet.

If that sounds like a life full of demands upon her time, you’re right. Between the lights of Broadway, the glamor of European capitals and omnipresent cameras in every city she travels to, she doesn’t get to visit her hometown all that often.

She did this week, however. One of the world’s preeminent ballerinas was at the Fox Theater for a sneak peek of her new documentary, “Tiler Peck: Suspending Time.” The little girl dancers were lined up practically out the door.

“It’s really amazing,” 9-year-old dancer Mirielle Elizabeth Coleman. “I loved it.”…
