BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The weather highlight of the week was Wednesday when early morning thunderstorms woke a lot of people up around the South Valley.
A cut-off low that was sitting and spinning southwest of California since the previous weekend finally moved into south-central California. Just enough moisture, lift and instability came together to bring lightning, thunder, rain and hail to Kern County. Rain amounts were all on the light side since there was quite a bit of dry air between the clouds and the ground locally, however, just over the county line near Visalia an inch of rain came down in only half an hour, creating flooding.
